Xenophon has extensive experience in representing clients in Litigation & Arbitration matters before the Greek courts. He is also particularly well-known for his expertise in the fields of intellectual property and IT and EU, Competition & Regulatory Compliance law. He is acting Head of the EU Studies department of the Scientific Service of the Hellenic Parliament, responsible for the follow-up and briefing of Parliament on important developments in EU law and the review of bills for conformity with EU legislation.
Prior to joining Potamitis Iliadou, the predecessor of PI Partners, he practiced at the law offices of Kotsovilis, Paparrigopoulos and Associates, where he amassed some sixteen years of experience during which he represented clients such as La Chemise Lacoste, Polo Ralph Lauren, O’ Neil, Everlast and The Motion Pictures Export Association of America in a large number of cases involving trademark protection, IP and competition issues. Xenophon also acted as counsel to the Hellenic Post on public procurement issues and has served on the board of several listed public companies.
Xenophon has been a Legal Counsel to the Academic Department of the Greek Parliament since 1989 and an Assistant Professor of Law and Philosophy at the University of Thessalia since 1995 in which capacity he lectures regularly on a wide range of issues, including contributions to the European Journal of Law, Philosophy and Computer Science, The Scientific Department of the Greek Parliament in Makridimitri’s book “Issues of Administrative Transformation” published in 1995 and “The John Rawls Theory on Justice”, written by K. Beys and published in 1994. He has also published a number of papers in both English and Greek, discussing John Rawls’ and R. Dworkiy’s theories, human rights, the value of law and the role of Courts in Society. In the context of the EU-funded GEOPARES project, he participated in a working group which submitted a proposal for the extensive amendment of the Standing Orders of the Parliament of the Republic of Georgia.
Xenophon received his LL.B. from the University of Athens in 1980, and an LL.M. in 1981 and an S.J.D. in 1984, from Harvard Law School.
