Stathis Potamitis

Managing Partner

Stathis’s practice focuses on advising clients in all areas of Banking, Finance & Market Operations and Mergers & Acquisitions. He has acted in many of the most high profile transactions to have taken place in Greece and has a reputation as a leading lawyer in his areas of practice, with a particular emphasis on securities and privatisations. Stathis is a member of the Athens Exchange Legal Council.

Stathis was a founding partner of Potamitis Iliadou law firm, the predecessor of PI Partners. He has worked as an attorney at the New York law firm of Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison and as General Counsel of Egnatia Bank in Greece.

Stathis has been published extensively in his areas of specialization. He is a member of the Committee for the Codification of Securities Exchange Legislation and has drafted the Code of Conduct for Investment Services Firms, regulations for licensing and reporting by Investment Services Firms as well as several laws. From 1998 to 1999, he acted as Deputy Chairman of the Athens Derivatives Exchange.

He received his LL.B. in 1986 from the University of Toronto, Canada. He also has a B.A. and M.A. from the same university which he obtained in 1979 and 1991 respectively and he is an Eleve Titulaire with the University of Paris IV.
