Milen’s practice includes advising clients on all areas of Company & Commercial law, with an emphasis on the law of intellectual property. He has particular experience in the area of EU, Competition & Regulatory Compliance, with an emphasis on the translation and adaptation of EU laws and regulations into the Bulgarian legislative system.
Prior to joining the firm, he worked at the Bulgarian Commission for the Protection of Competition, Ernst & Young, Arthur Andersen and Law Consulting Agency. He has also spent two years working for the Ministry of Justice and European Integration as a free-lance translator of EU regulations and directives. He has participated in a Phare-financed project for the creation of a multilingual dictionary of EU law terms. Milen also worked at the Bulgarian Commission for the Protection of Competition as a Chief Expert, involved in the drafting of decisions and participating in task forces leading investigations.
Milen’s most recent publication was in the Pari Daily Newspaper in May 2004 entitled “Free Trade or a National Trade Mark?”, commenting on the concept of exhaustion of IP rights in Bulgarian law.
He received his Master in Law in 1994 from the Moscow State Institute of International Relations. Milen also has an M.A. in European Studies from the College of Europe, Bruges, Belgium and has a Certificate in EU Legal Terminology Translation which he obtained in 1996 in Brussels.
